LIFE SKILLS
We often spend
time to know what our talents are and concentrate on how to develop our skill
sets to achieve great heights. That’s good!
But….
Are only these
technical skills enough for our life?
Not definitely,
There are other
interesting and important set of skills required for everyone to be a complete
human. They are the “LIFE SKILLS”.
Life skills are
the skills that prepare us for daily life. These skills are required to deal
with the daily chores and challenges faced during the course of life’s journey.
It is defined as,
“the abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to
deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life”.
Thinking Skills + Social Skills + Emotional skills = LIFE SKILLS.

Only if a person is able to manage all the three above said skills, he/ she would be able to live his / her life to its fullest potential.
The following are some of the enhancements that we
should aim to integrate into our personality. All these skills are interrelated and reinforce each other
·
Being Courageous – Courageous people do things outside the box. When they come across a
problem, they don’t neglect it but would stand up and give a voice against it
and try to find a solution for it. Are you one of them?
·
Being a Leader – A leader is a person who knows “Why” something has to be done and is
capable of communicating to others the need of “Why”. To be a leader, stop
talking and get into action. Add values to others’ lives. Remember, being a leader
is not just people accepting and following you, a leader is someone who takes
the responsibility to make a change.
·
Being an Optimist - This
is the tendency to take the most hopeful and cheerful view and to expect the
best outcome. Optimists see opportunities, possibilities and silver linings in
every situation. They often contend that, with hard work, focus, resilience and
a bit of luck, a positive outcome is possible. Always stay positive, upbeat and
cheerful – have a “We can do this!” attitude.
·
Self-control - Choose what you want to do and what not
do and then accept the consequences of your choices. This includes personal
discipline in behaviors and lifestyle too. Self-control implies that you have
sufficient drive and initiative, as well as a clear vision and focus.
Self-control keeps you motivated and helps you to focus on goals, and it also
contributes to momentum.
·
Empathy – There is a huge difference between human being and being human.
Qualities we hold including love, kindness, honesty, gratitude, forgiveness,
integrity, social intelligence, self-awareness, and wholeheartedness define who
we are as human beings.
It is always found
that people with these practical skills are better at handling any job and
situations in life.
My dear friends,
Money, the position you
are in or fame may give you temporary happiness but I am sure, practicing life
skills will help you lead a satisfied and fulfilled life.
